Our pool opened this weekend and boy oh boy was Magnolia excited! She talks about the pool every time we drive by it (which is usually a couple times a day!) so now that it is open she is just beside herself! We bought her a new floaty for the pool which she now has to hug and kiss every time we are in the garage (again... several times a day!) Hooray for summertime and many more hours spent at the pool!
Welcome to the Maki family blog! This blog has been created to celebrate the lives of our 2 amazing children, Magnolia and Keegan.

Pool is open!

Early Birthday Party
David's parents came out here last week to watch Magnolia so that I could go to Sioux Falls and take care of my mom after her surgery. I am sorry but David was in charge of the camera while they were here so there were not any pictures of the week! Before I left Magnolia got to open her birthday presents from grammy and pappy. She was so excited, she got a new baby! This girl loves taking care of her babies and is now in her glory now that she has a new one! Thank you to Bob and Francyne for taking such great care of Magnolia while I was gone!

Lookin' hot, even on the pot
Magnolia has a new potty chair and has tried many times to go on it. No luck yet, but when you look this cute I am sure it's only a matter of time!
Speaking of going potty, funny story: We were at Target the other day and Magnolia pooped when we were in the far back corner of the store. As her and David were walking up to the front of the store she made sure to tell everyone that she walked by that she had poop... and it stunk! She would yell "HI! Lala (thats what she calls herself) poop! STINK!!!" To make it a little more clear in case the people did not understand what she was saying she would then turn around, pat her butt and say "POOP!!!" Ahh, I am so glad I was in charge of running out to get diapers and wipes from the Jeep!
Another funny: David and I were making sushi last week and Magnolia wanted me to hold her. I said that I couldnt hold her because I needed to put crab in my sushi. Magnolia ran away and a few minutes later came back into the kitchen and threw something on my plate. I looked down to see that she went and got her crab finger puppet from the living room and wanted to give it to me for my sushi!

Mamma Day!!!
I had the best "Mamma Day" (as Magnolia called it). The weather was perfect, and I was able to spend the whole day with Magnolia and David. We spent the day outside biking, hiking, hanging out by the lake by us and playing in Magnolia's sandbox. I also painted my toes while Magnolia was napping and then painted hers when she woke up.
I know have said this before, but I feel so lucky to be Magnolia's mom. I have wanted to be a mom ever since I can remember and I just feel so fortunate that my dream came true. I can honestly say that there is not a day that goes by that I dont step back and think of how lucky I am. I have the most beautiful, funny, healthy, and amazing daughter. She truly is the sparkle in my eye. I am so thankful for everything that I have... especially for the fact that I get to be a mom. Thank you Magnolia for making me the happiest person around, I love you!

Little Miss Magnolia has been starting to sport some new hair styles! Her hair is finally getting long enough to try some different looks. She also does a really good job of sitting still so we can get her hair looking cute. She has to look in the mirror as soon as its done to make sure she approves of how it looks. :)

Turtle Time
Magnolia got a very special treat this weekend. She got her very own turtle sandbox! (Well, I guess I cant say that it is her very own because Ziggy also seems to really like to sit by it!) We have a perfect spot on our porch that will be nice and shady for Mr. Turtle. I am hoping that Magnolia will have many hours of fun playing in it this summer. We were also able to grill some turkey dogs and eat out on our patio yesterday. It was such a perfect day. I think we were outside enjoying the wonderful spring air all day! I even have a sunburn to prove it! :) Dont worry, we were smart enough to put sunscreen on Magnolia, just forgot about myself! What a fun family day we had yesterday. I just love being a mom and having a wonderful husband to share it with!
Funny story: I have been slacking on my funny stories lately, but this is a good one. Magnolia is obsessed with daddy going to work and we talk about it many many many times a day. So the other day I was hauling up a laundry basket of clean clothes and Magnolia decided that she wanted to help. So she took one end, I took the other end and we headed up the steps. If you havent figured it out by now, we have a little drama queen on our hands. So, with every step she grunted and groaned like this was the hardest thing she has ever done. She finally plopped down on a step looked up at me and said "Mamma and Lala (that is what she calls herself) at work!!!" And then she let out a "WHEW!!!" She was so adorable. I instantly started to belly laugh as she proceeded to stand back up, lift the basket back up, grunt and groan, and tried to get the basket up another step. Such a funny girl!
