A Maki Family First (and maybe last!)

Well it happened. David convinced me to do something I never thought I would do in my adult life. I put it on the "Oh what you do for your kids" list. We went to a buffet restaurant for dinner. Yep. I Kristin L Maki went to a buffet. For those of you who don't know me, I am not a big fan of buffets. When I was little our family went to a restaurant called Royal Fork. It was my sister's favorite place to eat so whenever it was her turn to pick I knew that was where we were headed. (Just in case you are wondering I would always pick Chi-Chi's) Anyway, I think that place tainted my buffet experience. It smelled funny. It just wasn't my cup of tea. So... whenever David mentioned how much our kids would like a buffet I would put the kibosh on it very quickly. For some reason this past weekend I caved. To say these kids of mine liked it would not do their experience justice. They LOVED it! Keegan ate and ate and ate and ate. He ate so much people actually came over to our table to comment on the amount of food he ate. He literally licked his plate clean! I will say that it was fun to see my kids try foods they had never had before... like meat loaf! Magnolia thought it was such a fancy restaurant. She could go up and get any food she wanted! She especially loved that there was a dessert section with ICE CREAM!!! I can't say that my opinion of buffet restaurants has changed but to see how much my kids loved it made it more enjoyable. Will I go back? Probably not. I have decided that experience is a great grandparent activity when they come out to visit! :)

Loves his dada

To say that Keegan adores his daddy is an understatement! Anytime David is home Keegan is by his side. David had to go out and clean up the backyard and get stuff ready for winter this past weekend. We decided this was not a project for Keegan to help with. Keegan did not agree with us. He stood at the back door and watched his dad the whole time. He tried to get out a few times and screamed a few times hoping I would give in and let him go out. I told him that if he would just learn to walk it would be so much easier for him to go out and help! :) We also went to a new park on Sunday. It was a beautiful day here and the kids were feeling so good we just needed to get some fresh air. The new park had a slide that Keegan LOVED and it also had a great climbing wall so that he could practice his crazy climbing skills.

Our friend James came up for a visit this past weekend. Keegan just adores him! (I think the feeling might be mutual!) While James was here Keegan decided to show off his climbing skills and climb up onto his walker all by himself. No, he is not walking yet. No, he does not like it if we put him in the walker. I guess it is way more fun to use the walker as a fun climbing toy instead of using it to learn how to walk! The funny part was when we saw what he had done Magnolia ran right over and put her hand out to catch him if he fell. What did I do? Grab the camera of course! :)

Healthy Kids!!

Yes, it has been a bit since I have blogged. You may ask yourself "Why?" Well, these two adorable kids have been fighting pink eye, ear infections, sinus infections, croup, and hand/foot/mouth disease. Ugh! I am so happy to report that we are finally all better and feeling great! Magnolia missed a whole week of school last week and a few days of school the week before so she was beyond excited to go back yesterday. I swear it was like the first day of school all over again! She even picked out her outfit the night before and had it laying out ready to go when she woke up. I sure hope these past few weeks are not how the winter is going to go for us! Maybe we got all the sick stuff done with early and will have a very healthy winter.

We had our pictures taken a few weeks ago. I must say, I am very please how they turned out. It was a very windy day and a bit cool so I wasnt sure any of them would be keepers. I was hoping for just one good picture, and I got all of these! Love!

Happy Halloween

We had a good Halloween season this year. Yes, I called it Halloween season! Seeing as I love Halloween I feel like we have been celebrating it for several weeks. Last weekend we took the kids to a really fun trick or treat festival downtown. I am now very thankful we did that because Keegan was not feeling good at all yesterday so he was not able to get in his costume and join his sister trick or treating. Poor little guy! Thank goodness he got to wear his costume on Sunday and we were even with it enough to have the camera and take his picture! Yesterday we had pumpkin shaped pancakes for breakfast and then our annual orange dinner before trick or treating. Magnolia had a blast and ran (in high heels!!!!) from house to house with a few of her favorite neighbor kids. Keegan did perk up enough to enjoy every trick or treater that came to the door. I think he thought everyone was coming to play and he would get very sad and cry every time they left and we shut the door. Cant wait for next year when he can run from house to house with his sister!
