Merry Christmas!

Whew, Christmas is over! Our house is put back together, Christmas decorations are put away and it is looking and feeling very empty in here! We had a very relaxing Christmas. Magnolia had a fantastic day and was so funny this year. She was so excited about EVERYTHING and was very grateful for everything she got. We got many hugs of thanks and heard "Oh thank you, I have always wanted this!" Unfortunately Keegan was not feeling very good but still managed to crack a few smiles. We also had a white Christmas, which was very exciting and pretty. Magnolia got to go out and burn off some of her energy in fresh new snow!

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve after dinner Magnolia got her Christmas pajamas on. I made hot chocolate and David got Keegan bundled. We then all loaded in the car to look at Christmas lights. Magnolia thought it would be really fun to use a Christmas blanket instead of a coat so she could be all snuggly. We turned up the Christmas music and we were off to see some beautiful lights. Magnolia seemed to enjoy it far more than I thought she would and Keegan got a much needed snooze in. I think this might be a new tradition for us!

4 months old

Keegan turned 4 months old on Christmas Eve. He has learned several new tricks this past month. He has started to grab and chew on toys. He is also starting to sit up with help. He went to the doctor yesterday for his 4 month appointment. Other than having a cold virus he is a very healthy little guy! He now weighs 16 lbs 4 oz and is 25 inches long.

Meet Dorothy!

Magnolia got her first fish last week. She was sick and was not able to go to her school Christmas party and we just felt horrible for her. She was so sad that she wasnt able to go. The worst part was I had signed up to bring in a cake so we had to go bring the cake for all of the other children to enjoy. As tears were streaming down Magnolia's face as I handed the cake over to her teacher my heart broke for her. When we got back to the car I told her we could get something special for her when she felt better. After David and I chatted we decided we would get her a fish. She was SO excited to go to the pet store and pick out a fish. I think she looked at every single one before deciding on this one. (I must admit, it is a pretty one!) We came home and she named her fish Dorothy right away.

Love these faces

Oh how I love these faces! They makes me smile and remind me just how lucky I am. The past few weeks have been a bit rough at our house... Ziggy being sick and then having to put her to sleep... Magnolia has been fighting strep throat and a double ear infection... David has been working like crazy and has gotten snowed in up in Laramie... thinking about those families in Connecticut who lost their prides and joys... I am so thankful for everything that I have and have definitely hugged my kids a little tighter these past few weeks. Oh how I love them!!!

Christmas Program

Magnolia's school Christmas program was this past weekend. She did amazing! She had a speaking part that she rocked. In front of a packed gym she got up and said "God's love is the best gift we can give at Christmas. Since God lives with us, all we really have to give is ourselves." Whew thats a lot for a little 4 year old to say! She was so excited for the program and to wear the sparkle dress that she picked out just for the big day. We didnt get any good pictures of the actual program but here are a couple pictures of Magnolia at our house before the big show. She also LOVES her teacher this year and wanted a picture with her. I am so proud of our amazing little girl!

Polar Express Train

I am in love with this picture of my 2 favorite boys!!!
We went into the mountains with David's parents on Sunday and went on a very special Christmas train. We did the same thing last year. Last year everything about the day was perfect. Last year we planned ahead and bought Magnolia a special outfit to wear on the train and everyone was healthy and happy. This year was not nearly as perfect but it still turned out to be very fun and just as memorable! Magnolia threw up in the car, Keegan had a poop explosion after not pooping for 4 days and also managed to spit up all over my coat and pants while on the train. Ah just another day in the life of small children! Both kids really enjoyed the train ride and Magnolia's face when she saw Santa coming was priceless and worth all of the craziness!!

Grammy and Papa

David's parents were here this past weekend for their Christmas visit. I am not sure there was an entire day that they were here that both kids felt good but I hope they still had a good time. Our laid back and happy little man was not himself the first few days. He needed to poop and was very fussy and uncomfortable until he finally did. Magnolia ended up getting strep and ear infections at the end of their trip so she ended their trip under the weather. We did manage to squeeze in some fun though... going out to eat, shopping, opening presents, and going on the Polar Express train. (More about the train experience in another post!)

Sesame Street Live

We went to Sesame Street Live a few weeks back. (Yes I am fully aware I am behind on my blogging!!!) This was the first live show or play we have taken Magnolia to. It was also a first for Keegan! Both kids LOVED it. I dont think Magnolia took her eyes off the show for a second. She even started to cry when it was all done. Keegan took a little nap, ate a little breakfast and then watched the show. David and I both agree that it was a far better show than we were anticipating and would do it again!

The best pug

It is with a very sad heart and tears in my eyes that I write this post. Today we had to say goodbye to the happiest, most loving and wonderful dog around. This was one of the hardest days of my life. Ziggy was such an amazing dog and so many of our best memories include her. David and I got her as a foster dog shortly after we were married. We signed a contract with the rescue program we did foster care for that we would foster 6 dogs before adopting any. Ziggy just happened to be #7! She came out from the back of the vet with a red bandana on, tail wagging and a smile on her face. All we could do was laugh at this dog. I knew we just had to keep her the second I saw her. She moved with us from St Paul to Oklahoma City to Boise to Arvada and finally to Fort Collins and was always up for an adventure. Pug was so caring and you could tell she was a mom to a lot of puppies in her younger years. She somehow knew I was pregnant both times before I did. She would sit on my belly and wouldnt move every night while watching tv. When we found out we were pregnant I realized that Pug already knew and was keeping my babies warm. She continued to sit on my belly with both kids until it was so big she would fall off. At that point she she would sit right next to me until the baby was born. She then resumed her normal position on the couch (which was curled up on David's legs). Zigs always made sure we knew when Magnolia was crying as a baby and never passed up an opportunity to snuggle and catch a quick nap with Magnolia and Keegan. We tried to give Ziggy the very best life she could possibly have while she was with us. I hope that we succeeded. I hope that she knew how much we loved her. We sure are going to miss our little puggers but it is comforting to know that she is not in any pain anymore. Here are some of my favorite pictures of Ziggy and our last family picture with her.

Santa Visit

We went and visited Santa last weekend. Both kids did great! Keegan slept the whole time in line and woke up just as we were setting him on Santa's lap. Magnolia was very serious while standing in line and took it all in. Magnolia asked for a blue train that goes all by itself. We were very surprised when she asked for that because she has not mentioned that when she has written her many lists of things she wants. :)

3 Months Old

Keegan is 3 months old! I think these 3 pictures really captur his emerging personality. Overall he is very laid back, happy and silly. He had a really yucky cold last week but got through it like a champ. He is really starting to reach for things and really likes to hang onto a blanket. Adorable!
