David has been waiting all week for this weekend. He had a date with his daughter on Saturday while I took a nap! He got her all ready, dressing her in an all pink outfit, with a bow in her hair to make it complete! They then headed out on the town while I headed up to bed for a nap! David was so excited to take his little girl out and show her off! They were gone for 2 hours and he said that she was perfect the whole time! I was able to crawl into bed and take the most wonderful nap! It was a great time had by all but boy was I happy when they got home! I missed Maggie a ton even though it was just a few hours! The rest of the afternoon was spent bonding as a family and laying around watching Maggie's every move laughing and talking about how perfect she is. It was so nice to have David home from work! What a great day!
It was a very big day in our house today. Magnolia is one week old today and she got to meet her big sister! Ziggy has been at "the farm" this week while I healed and we adjusted to having Maggie home. Ziggy is a wonderful big sister. She is already very protective of Maggie and has been snuggling with her, giving her kisses and watching her every move. The only problem is that Ziggy gets very nervous when Maggie cries. Ziggy runs around barking like crazy when Maggie lets out a big ol' cry. I think they are going to be really good friends!
It can be hard to be away from family when you have a brand new perfect baby that you want to show off. We are very lucky to have some wonderful people out here that have come to visit Magnolia. We have had our cousins come for some play time, my friend Debbie and her kids and our wonderful doula that helped us get through the labor and delivery of little Maggie.
Maggie had her first doctor's appointment on Thursday. She took that opportunity to pee all over mom's shirt when they were getting ready to weigh her. We learned a good lesson that day, not only do we need a change of clothes in the diaper bag for Maggie, but we need one in there for me too! The doctor's appointment went very well. She is one healthy baby! She lost a small amount of weight, which is very normal but we are getting her good and plump this weekend!

We made it through the first day of being at home! It was a wonderful day... 8 poopy diapers and a sponge bath. Maggie does not seem to need much sleep, she is wide awake all night and takes just little naps during the day. I should have known this would be the case when David is her dad and she never slept at night while she was in my tummy! She loved her "bath" and was able to check out her room and all of the things we have bought for her over the past few months! She seems to be much happier at home than in the hospital. Maggie is getting very excited to meet her "big sister" Ziggy on Saturday. Ziggy has been at the farm enjoying a little vacation while I get healed and we all get settled.
Both Maggie and I got a clean bill of health and were able to go home on Monday. David was so excited to get Maggie in her car seat that he had been researching for the past 9 months. We have finally made it to the day that all of his research is put to the test! Maggie loved her car seat and really enjoyed the car ride. She really seemed to enjoy going fast and listening to the "Coffee House" channel on Sirius radio!
Here is David putting the first diaper on! This is also his first diaper change of his life. What a big step for both of them! "Baby girl Maki" was 8 lbs. 14 oz and 21 inches long. No wonder it took 28 hours of labor with over 3 hours of pushing! Now we just need to pick a name!

At 8:06 our hearts filled with more love than we thought possible. The doctor delivered the baby and immediately showed David so that he could tell me what we had. I heard David say "Its A Girl!" and then I had this little baby get set on my chest. Words can't describe the emotions that ran through me. I am now a mom! I looked up at David, looked down at our new baby girl and all I could think about was how lucky I am to have this family! Now we just needed to come up with a name!
I started the labor process at 5:00 p.m. on Friday night. My goal was to birth naturally without any drugs so that was the only thing on my mind. We had the most wonderful doula that helped us through the whole process. I am not sure if we would have made it if we didnt have her there for support! The labor took a very long time... 29 hours! The nurses would wish me the best of luck at the end of their shifts and tell me that they would come visit me and the baby when they came back. Little did they know that I would still be there trying to have this little baby when they came back. It got a little disheartening after awhile, but it was well worth it! On Saturday afternoon I ended up getting an epidural in hopes that would help with my pain. I then progressed very quickly and was ready to push. Once again, I thought this would be an easy process but baby had a mind of its own! I pushed for 3 1/2 solid hours and at 8:06 I was able to see my work pay off!
Friday, June 20th 2008 A moment that I will never forget... I went to the doctor to have my blood pressure checked. I had been having blood pressure issues the past few weeks and have been on bed rest since June 3rd. So, I am in the patient room at the doctors office waiting for him to come in and check on me. He opens the door and says "You are going to have a baby today!" I went into shock and was filled with so many emotions! I called David right away and told him to get to the hospital! This was the beginning of the most exciting time of our lives.

I have been on bed rest for a week now, and still no Joey. I went to the doctor today. My blood pressure is still elevated but they dont want to induce until next week. So, what else do I have to do with my day is take pictures of the baby's room! This website is going to be so much more exciting when we have baby pictures to put on it and stories of sleepless nights!
